People often begin the process of counseling when they are experiencing significant loss, change, or chaos in their lives. These experiences often lead to one feeling such pain and fear that they may try to avoid or numb their emotions. In my practice, I attempt to create a space where you can feel vulnerable to explore and accept your pain and discomfort. At times, pain may be an invitation for our learning and be transformed into our greater wisdom and strength.

Practicing loving kindness towards ourselves seems as good a way as any to start illuminating the darkness of difficult times.

Professional Experience and Education

I have over 25 years of experience working in the fields of both mental health and chemical dependency counseling. I previously served as the Manager of an Outpatient Therapy Department, where I provided clinical supervision to both students and independently licensed therapists. I have additional training in perinatal mental health disorders and EMDR, and I utilize EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) in my work with clients.

Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from The Ohio State University.

Masters Degree in Counselor Education from The Ohio State University.

Grace means that all of your mistakes now serve a purpose, instead of serving shame.

Things falling apart is a kind of testing and also a kind of healing. We think that the point is to pass the test or to overcome the problem, but the truth is that things don't really get solved. They come together and they fall apart. Then they come together again and fall apart again. It's just like that. The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen: room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy.
